Procol Harum is an English rock band, formed in 1967, that
contributed to the development of progressive rock. Their best-
known song is their 1967 hit "A Whiter Shade of Pale", one of the few
singles to sell over 10 million copies. The band is noted for its
classical, Bach-inspired organ lines, strong melodies, and cryptic
lyrics.
"Procol Harum Live In Concert with the Edmonton Symphony
Orchestra" was recorded in 1971 and released in 1972. The album was
a commercial success, reaching the top 5 in the US charts and
helping to popularize the concept of rock bands performing with
orchestras.
